The most common method to remove dust is by cleaning solar panels with high-pressure water jets, but this is not feasible in areas with limited water and human resources such as deserts, mountains and spaces .
Our study demonstrates that the wind-driven TENG-based EDS method effectively removes dust and can recover more than 90% of solar panel efficiency. This technology has potential applications in large solar power plants located in remote environments. 1. Introduction
Hence, TENGs are considered promising candidates as energy sources for self-powered EDS dust removal using wind energy in remote environments such as deserts, mountains or spaces. In this paper, we propose a self-powered dust removal method for efficient and sustainable solar energy harvesting using a wind-driven TENG.
The results shown in Fig. 3i demonstrate that the DRE was not appreciably influenced by the EDS plate area and effectively removed the dust on the plate, thereby confirming the feasibility of TENG-driven EDS dust removal for commercialized solar panels. A robust rotation TENG (RTENG) generating 3.8 kVpp, 0.6 μApp, and 0.7 μC at 900 rpm is introduced. Wind-driven RTENG-based dust removal achieved a 43.5% dust removal rate and boosted solar panel efficiency to over 90%. Maintaining the efficiency and longevity of solar panels relies on effective dust management.
