Thus, blade-coating is deemed to be an efficient method to fabricate large-area organic solar cells, together with optimizing morphology of active layer. Generally, additive is a widely used method in controlling nanoscale morphology of active layer to improve device performance .
High-efficiency perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and organic solar cells (OSCs) are promising alternatives for silicon-based solar cells. At present, the key point for commercialization of PSCs and OSCs is realizing large-scale production while maintaining the same high efficiency as small-area ones.
Large-area devices were fabricated by blade-coating and exhibit high PCE of 8.59%. For the fabrication of large-area devices, achieving both excellent photovoltaic performance and device stability simultaneously is the key to commercialization of organic solar cells (OSCs).
The scalable fabrication of perovskite solar cells and solar modules requires the development of new materials and coating methods. In this Review, we discuss solution-based and vapour-phase coating methods for large-area perovskite films and examine the progress in performance and the parameters affecting large-area coatings.
Here we report high-throughput blade coating of a wide-bandgap perovskite on sub-micrometer-scale, double-side-textured silicon to achieve efficient perovskite/silicon monolithic tandem solar cells. In this new tandem device structure, the perovskite cell “planarizes” the textured silicon surface by filling the valleys between pyramids.
